Hurunui District Council
Bio: I currently work as a Climate Change Advisor for the Hurunui District Council. My role involves engaging with at risk coastal communities and helping with the development of Coastal Adaptation Policies, as well as formulating climate change policy and strategy. I have recently moved back to New Zealand from the UK where I worked as an ecologist, as well as in Flood Risk Management (FRM) for the East Sussex County Council. My role as an ecologist involved bat, lizard and dormouse surveys, as well as an Ecological Clerk of Works on the railways during clearance works. My role in FRM involved investigating breaches in land drainage law, and working on the Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP). My work on FCRIP involved engaging with community members and other government organisations, gathering data for reports, and investigating the study catchment through site visits and GIS analysis. At the University of Otago I earned a BSc in Zoology and Ecology, and earned a GDip in Environmental Science from Victoria University of Wellington.
